Unity In The Community

Group 1 - Unity In The Community

About

We are making an infographic that appeals to the younger generation, represents them and provide insight to cultural diversity and that promotes integration. It will be specifically for secondary school students. It will be based on our workshops and also a survey.

The Process

We had our first workshop with an immigrant who now lives in Carrigtwohill. We chose this person because they have a child who was born in Ireland which gives us a good perspective of life from both perspectives. They mentioned that people shouldn’t say the word tolerate when speaking about migrants as it means that you are putting up with someone you don’t like rather than actually getting along and integrating with them. This inspired this poster.

We then had a second workshop with two teenage students in the community. We chose them because when you educate kids then the kids educate the parents too and it reaches more people. We found that in that school that most people didn’t  integrate with others outside of their group until 4th year when they were forced to join clubs. So, we made this poster based on that topic trying to promote people to join a club and integrate.

Final Artefact

Here is our Infographic based on the views of youths and students living in Carrigtwohill:
