About
We are making an infographic that appeals to the younger
generation, represents them and provide insight to cultural diversity and that promotes
integration. It will be specifically for secondary school students. It will be based on our workshops and also a survey.
The Process
We had our first workshop with an immigrant who now lives in Carrigtwohill. We chose this person because they have a child who was born in Ireland which gives us a good perspective of life from both perspectives. They mentioned that people shouldn’t say the word tolerate when speaking about migrants as it means that you are putting up with someone you don’t like rather than actually getting along and integrating with them. This inspired this poster.
We then had a second workshop with two teenage students in the
community. We chose them because when you educate kids then the kids educate the
parents too and it reaches more people. We found that in that school that most people
didn’t integrate with others outside of their group until 4th year
when they were forced to join clubs. So, we made this poster based on that
topic trying to promote people to join a club and integrate.
